OUR CORE VALUES . . .

  • GRACE:  We define grace as God’s forgiveness and His favor.  We acknowledge that God’s grace, through Jesus Christ, is the bedrock and power supply for all that we do and that our core values is His grace in action. Receiving grace results in us giving grace.  God’s divine grace is made available through His Son and His practical grace is made available through the power of the Holy Spirit working through us. We believe the Bible teaches both the sovereign grace of God and the solemn responsibility of man.  God's grace is extended to all and the solemn responsiblity of man is to trust, obey and serve God and humanity.  We strive to not only focus on the poor’s responsibility to the process of change in order to improve their lives, but equally as much on our responsibility to be prayerful, supportive and gracious through the poor's jouney to wholeness.

  • LOVE:  We demonstrate our love for God by loving and caring for all of His creation (family, friends, neighbors and enemies; believers and unbelievers, the poor and even including the environment).

  • HOLINESS:  God, who is holy, calls us to a life of holiness. We believe that the Holy Spirit seeks to do in us a work of sanctification: Cleansing us from sin.  Renewing us in the image of God.  Empowering us to love God with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength and to love our neighbors as ourselves.  Producing in us the character of Christ. We believe that Holiness in the life of believers is most clearly understood as Christlikeness as taught in the beatitudes and is God’s standard of living for His people.

  • COMMUNITY:  Those that we serve are not our clients, they are our neighbors.  Those with challenges and issues are not the problem, they are our purpose.  We strive to live and serve “in-community” with our Lord, our family, our neighbors and those to whom we are called to serve. We strive to foster a Christ-like worldview amidst the backdrop of globalization.

  • UNITY:  As members of the Church Universal, we join with all Christians in proclaiming the Lordship of Jesus Christ and in affirming the historic Trinitarian creeds and beliefs of the Christian faith through HOPE's declaration of faith and practical commitments. We value our Holiness - Pentecostal heritage and believe it to be a way of understanding and demonstrating the faith that is true to Scripture, reason, tradition, and experience. We believe that unity among believers is a high priority for our Lord and we strive to maintain unity with every believer, across the denominational spectrum by submitting to biblical teachings and traditional orthodoxy. We believe unity must be centered in Jesus Christ and in the truth of Scripture and that true unity begins as we unite with Christ through His word. We believe that caring for those affected by poverty and disaster is an opportunity to unite in a common vision and follow the Lord together.

  • KNOWLEDGE:  We are committed to learning and teaching.

  • PARTNERSHIP:  We believe that organizational partnership is more than “good business.”  We believe that partnership is a relationship and a friendship that goes beyond sharing resources and cooperating in order to simply accomplish a project. We believe partnership is unity unfolded and is the result of our Lord’s followers joyfully accepting the responsibility to fulfill His mission of unity.  As partners we are committed to expand our reach and scope by helping those who partner with us.

  • SERVICE:  We give of our corporate and personal resources, time, skills, influence, presence and ourselves to help those in need, marginalized and oppressed.  We strive through vocation and volunteerism to help where we can, whenever and however possible.

  • DIVERSITY:  Since our founding in 1992 HOPE CHARITABLE SERVICES remains committed to serving those affected by poverty and disaster in the Name of our Lord and His church. People who come to us for assistance will be served according to their need and our capacity to help – regardless of race, gender, religion, ethnicity, political affiliation or sexual orientation. We do not conceal that we ascribe to a traditional view of Scripture and Christian Orthodoxy, especially the doctrines, theology and practical commitments of our tradition (Wesleyan Holiness – Classical Pentecostal).  While we serve those in need, without discrimination or expectation, it would be an undue conflict for us to employ those who cannot ascribe to traditional Christian orthodoxy.

These values spring from our Christian experience; inspire our work, define our corporate culture; and cause us to establish social justice through direct service, partnerships and advocacy.
